About Café LA
Café LA operates one of the largest School Breakfast Programs and the second-largest National School Lunch Program in the United States. Each day, more than 530,000 meals are served, including nutritious breakfast, lunch, and after-school supper.
Under California’s Universal Meals Program, all students receive breakfast and lunch at no cost daily.
Café LA’s mission, “Nourishing Children to Achieve Excellence,” is fulfilled through high-quality meal programs, diverse student-approved menu options, and nutritious meals that support both academic success and physical development.
Los Angeles Unified School District is a Community Eligibility Provision (CEP) district, where more than 81% of students qualify for free or reduced-price meals. Food Services plays a critical role in supporting students who rely on school meals as a primary source of nutrition.
